Gum disease is a condition affecting the tissues and bones that anchors and supports the teeth. Gum destruction can be the end result of gum disease that was failed to be treated with proper treatments and preventions. It is seen that a diseased gum is actually a chronic inflammatory disease which may occur with acute infection of the periodontal tissue. The disease can begin once the person lacks oral hygiene, allowing sticky plaque to build up and harden on the teeth causing bleeding gums and swollen gums.
Diet can contribute a lot to gum disease, and habits like smoking and tobacco use, as well. Yet, anaerobic bacteria is the foremost reason for gum disease to develop and end up with receding gums and tooth loss. This makes us think that we should have good dental care habits, have proper diet and healthy lifestyle to avoid certain medical conditions as we grow old.
